Research Opportunity at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal is inviting applications from individuals for the position of Junior Research Fellow under the project: Morphologic assessment of water resources in semi-arid catchments of central India funded by the Indo French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA).

Qualification: Essential: Students with M.Tech./M.E./M.S./M.Sc./BS-MS/or equivalent degree in Geology/Geosciences, Hydraulic engineering, Water resource engineering, civil engineering, remote sensing/geoinformatics, Science/Electronics and Communication/Wireless Communication and Networks/ Data, computer Sciences/Engineering, Mathematics, data science from a recognized Institute/University. Desirable:  Candidates have qualified CSIR/ UGC NET or GATE. Knowledge of Python programming language, MySQL. Good knowledge of geomorphology, groundwater and surface water hydrology, andl image processing.  Knowledge of undergraduate level mathematics (calculus, algebra)

Job Description: This project aims to understand and model the surface and groundwater interaction in small watershed in Madhya Pradesh. The project JRF should have a good understanding of surface and groundwater hydrology, network analysis, images analysis and computer programming language (preferably Python). The JRF will be responsible for data collection (groundwater level, geomorphological survey using drones, channel geometry and flow measurement etc.), in the field, small scale flume experiments, data analysis, report writing, and other duties related to the project work assigned time to time. Since this is an international collaborative project between India and France, the JRF may be asked to visit France (Paris) as per the requirement of the project.
