Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore is inviting applications from individuals post of Project Research Assistant.
Essential Educational Qualification: Full time post graduate degree Msc in Astronomy and Astrophysics and 60% marks in the aggregate or equivalent grade from a reputed and recognized University/Institution under UGC or Central or State Governments.
Essential Experience: One year of Working experience in astronomy related projects in a reputed Industry/Research Organization in Experimental or Observational astronomy related projects. Having hands on experience in Python programming.
Desirable Experience: Hands on working experience with instruments related to astronomy and astrophysics. Familiar with C/C++ programming language on Unix/Linux platform.
Nature of Job: To be a part of instrument development team that handles design, fabrication, calibration and testing for ground and space-based astronomy experiments. Candidate should not have any objection to travel to field stations of IIA when required.
Terms & Conditions : 1) The appointment is purely temporary on contract basis and does not entitle any privileges or benefits of regular employment. No claim whatsoever for regular employment in the Institute shall be entertained. 2) The tenure of appointment is initially for a period of one year and extendable for further period subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate and requirement of the Institute. 3) The date of determining the upper age limit, qualifications and experience shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of completed applications. 4) The remuneration indicated is a consolidated and is inclusive of all allowances. 5) There will be annual increase in the remuneration based on satisfactory performance. 6) It is open to the Institute to conduct written test to shortlist the candidates for interview in case the attendance of candidates is more. 7) Age relaxation is permissible to SC, ST & OBC candidates and also to physically handicapped candidates as notified by Govt. of India from time to time. 8) The candidate selected will be posted to work in IIA, Bengaluru and is liable to be posted anywhere in India as per the requirement of the Project. 9) Institute reserves the right to cancel the entire recruitment process at any time without assigning any reasons whatsoever. 10) No correspondence will be entertained with the candidates not selected for interview / appointment.
